The authors identify the critical forces causing the loss of biological diversity as habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation.  Habitat destruction is associated with urban development.  Fragmentation frequently results from people's perceived need to isolate themselves by building a home in a rural setting.   The effect of this misperception is readily seen in the biological diversity of ten north central Texas parks/protected natural areas as described by Granandos et al. (2001).  Your task is to read her article, recreate her graphics, and explain the implications of their findings.  The article and data set are available in the pdf. Create both graphs using the data from Table 1 and Table 2.
