USING THE ABOVE AS YOUR BACKGROUND RESEARCH, ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS AS COMPLETELY AS POSSIBLE USING YOUR READINGS AND ANY EXTRA RESEARCH THAT YOU CONDUCTED.  YOU MAY ALSO FIND THAT DISCUSSING THE QUESTIONS WITH A FRIEND, CO-WORKER, COLLEAGUE, OR ACQUAINTANCE MIGHT PROVIDE SOME VALUABLE INSIGHTS. 

 1.  After reading THE BASIS FOR ETHICAL CONDUCT—AN INTRODUCTION TO THE ETHICAL CONDUCT PARADIGM by Douglas W. Warner (full text in Week one)  explain the motivations for a person to have a “mid-life crisis” using paradigm terms. 

2.  This next question is not going to be graded on the content of your beliefs but rather on the process that you go through in order to complete the assignment.  Your task is to identify 100 of your beliefs in one-sentence statements.   (This number is not negotiable.)   Ex:  I believe in God.  These should be ethical beliefs as opposed to say physical beliefs,  "I believe the earth is round".

3.  Upon completion of your list of beliefs, discuss what you have learned from the process.

4.  Currently, if you go into the hospital for treatments that could involve surgery or some possibly life-threatening tests, the hospital will ask if you have a living will.  In the event that you do not have one and would like one, the hospital will provide one for you.  Explain whether or not you personally would be able to honor a living will.   (Case Study #3 in Warner book).

 5.  In James Clavell's, THE CHILDREN'S STORY (one of your texts)  the teacher was able to illicit cooperation from the students because of the relationship she built with them.  Following September 11, Americans became very aware of terrorism and also acts of patriotism.  Describe a true account of patriotism (for any nation) that has gone bad and consequently had negative consequences or backfired if you prefer.
