The article I chose to write about for this discussion post is titled, "Trump Rallies Aren't Even Really About Politics at This Point" by Ben Jacobs. This article focuses on Donald trump's image more as a public figure instead of a true politician like Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley who are candidates of the Republican party who are going to run against Trump in the next election. Text states "Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley have partisans. while Donald Trump has fans" (Jacobs.) Presidents such as Raegan and Obama are still looked up to by Americans but no president has had the same effect as Trump. To the presidential signs still up as Biden won last election, to the themed car flags, to the MAGA stickers and hats, Trump has had a real influence on a lot of Americans. Trump's true influence shows mostly throughout his rallies. In Iowa this month, "fans" lined up early in the morning for the chance to see the past president with lines wrapping around parking lots stretching to the entrance of the building. Vendors sold clothing, keychains, hats and more with carts wheeling their way up and down the long lines. Attendees were willing to stand in line for hours even if they were skeptical of their chance to see Trump himself (Jacobs). One of these Trump fans is named Chris Seedorf of Albert Lea, Minnesota and he said he'd take a bullet for Trump and he was the only politician he would commit self-sacrifice for. Seedorf also included that Trump would do the same not just for him but everyone. Newlyweds who married weeks before took this rally as a honeymoon opportunity. “There is no better place to have a honeymoon," the couple stated. While most presidential rallies are used to ask questions about the candidates opinions and touch on politics, Trumps are morelike parties and comedian shows. Audiences clapped and cheered as Trump mocked transgender athletes participating in women's sports and spoke about his allegations involving the FBI. Trump's loyalist do not make up the majority of the republican primary voters or general election voters but they do represent the reason for his political strength. Even after 91 criminal charges, four tumultuous years in the White House, and one attempt to storm the Capitol, Donald Trump is seen as an icon. Trump did not receive a plurality of the popular vote against Clinton or Biden in previous election and his popularity is not going to carry him to a win in this next one but this does offer him an advantage that the other candidates do not have.

I chose "When are regulators going to hold crypto accountable". The article is about the CEO of Binance Changing Zhao and exposing them for leading people to give money for crypto. They were charged with intentionally evading U.S anti-money-laundering laws and encouraging its customers to obscure where they were. Apparently, the company was acting as a hub for terrorists, cybercriminals, and customers in sanctioned countries. The company was fined for 4.3 billion with corporate monitoring. Zhao will get less than two years in prison and will be able to keep significant ownership interest in Binance. The difference here would be if they were an actual bank the deposit insurance would have been terminated, charter revoked, and doors shuttered. Crypto currency's been going on for 15 years and has turned into a 10 trillion-dollar industry, with there being cryptocurrencies remain largely unregulated. Cryptocurrencies should be required to register in the U.S and have jurisdiction if they do any business with the people. With the tech that we have today, and crypto being a computer code policymakers need to catch up and get into better crime stopping these businesses who violate any law.
