ELR 701 Final Research Project: Grant Proposal

Overview: Imagine you have been allowed to compete for an educa7onal grant (available funds ranging from $1,000 - $10,000) to conduct ac7on research in your approved area of interest on which you received feedback in Module 2. Using a synthesis of the informa7on you have gained in this course, write a grant proposal that meets the criteria listed below.

Your assignment will describe, in detail, plans for a viable research-based project; however, you are not required to conduct research during this course. As a teacher-leader, middle-leader, or primary leader at the Ed.S. level, you are strongly encouraged to construct an assignment that could be applied to an actual grant proposal now or in the future. The required sec7ons of this project should align well with most grant proposal requirements, should you wish to apply.

Format/Criteria: ● Title page (10 pts.) – State the 7tle of the grant project, dura7on, amount requested,

and your name ● IntroducGon (10 pts.) – Provide a general project overview by summarizing (one page or

less) the problem/need, popula7on/group/area of impact, ac7vity/interven7on, and hypothesis or intended outcome.

● Needs Assessment (10 pts.) – Document the current situa7on; describe strengths and the problem/need for this project, supported by data, either numerical (survey data, test scores, etc.) and/or anecdotal.

● Statement of Purpose (5 pts.) – Clear statement of the project’s significance (between 100-200 words).

● Goals & ObjecGves (objecGves may be statements or may be in the form of research quesGons) (10 pts.) – State overarching goals and clear, measurable objec7ves for the project; please use a bulleted format.

● Background & RaGonale (15 pts.) – Provide evidence for your proposed project through a synthesis of previous literature; at least 5 peer-reviewed, scholarly sources are required.

● Methods of EvaluaGon (15 pts.) – State how each objec7ve will be measured using specific quan7ta7ve or qualita7ve data collec7on measures, and state methods of data analysis for each; Use a table format.

● Proposed AcGviGes & Schedule (10 pts.) – State how each of the project’s main ac7vi7es will be carried out on a weekly monthly basis, from project ini7a7on to comple7on; Use a table format.

● Budget & JusGficaGon (10 pts.) – List all materials/resources, the es7mated cost of each, and a brief jus7fica7on for each; use a 3-column table format.

● Expected Outcomes (10 pts.) – Summarize the an7cipated conclusions of the project; should relate directly to goals/objec7ves.

● References (5 pts.) – Include a full APA style reference list for each in-text cita7on used in the paper.

● Grammar & PunctuaGon (5 pts)-Use correct grammar and punctua7on in accordance with APA 7th edi7on.

The paper should follow APA 7th edi7on guidelines for formaZng and style. If APA 7th edi7on formaZng is not followed, a point reduc7on in each category may occur.
