Market justice is the principle that describes the distribution of health care according to the naturally occurring market forces of supply and demand.  The argument here is that these forces, rather than government intervention, allow for the fair distribution of health care. As a result, people pay what they are willing and able to pay, and are entitled to purchase the services as they need or see fit.  The free market rests on the assumption that people should only be able to purchase and use good and services through means they have independently acquired.

The defense of market justice really centers on individual responsibility, self-control, and rational thinking. Individuals are responsible for their owns achievements, and thus they are then able to pursue their own best interests and obtain various economic goods and services including health care.  Individuals, with their physicians, know what is best for them and things works best with little to no involvement from government. When it comes to the poor and marginalized having a hard time getting healthcare, there is always charity care.  Otherwise, this barrier is simply seen as a demand side rationing.

Market justice

Market justice refers to distributional principle according to healthcare that is most equitable distributed through the market forces of supply and demand rather than government interventions.  In other words, people are entitled to purchase a share of the available goods and services that they value; they purchase these valued goods and services by means of wealth acquired through their own efforts (Shi and Singh 2019). In my opinion, you get what you work for and they’re at free will of being able to pick what they have earned and/or what’s suitable for them & needs.

Defense

I know it may seem like Market justice is viewed as health care to be rewarded for making a lot of money, rather than something that is truly needed by most people; but this approach descends from of individuality, self-interest, effort, & voluntary behavior. This allows individual choices & resources to determine the distribution of their health care. This is voluntary and those who have the means for this option can take advantage of it. Individuals may say it’s more for those who are somewhat prestigious in both status and income, but other means are available for those who can’t afford it.
