Problem Solving Court
Problem Solving Courts are an alternative to some instead of traditional incarceration. This alternative option has proven to be effective but is also frowned upon by some because it may be seen as the "coddling of offenders."
1. Define what a problem solving court is.
- What are the primary goals and how does it differ from a traditional criminal court?
2. Choose 1 type of problem solving court (Drug, Mental health, veterans court, ect.) and describe how it operates and what audience it serves.
3. Evaluate and Analyze the effectiveness of that court model.
- What evidence exists that proves its effectiveness and what challenges or criticisms does it face?
4. Evaluate its role in corrections
- Would you support this type of court or is it something that should not be expanded in the future?
