Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta: Mission & Community Impact
Mission addresses mental health crises such as anxiety, mood disorders, and suicidal ideation.
Other organizations: Serenity Behavioral Health Systems, GCAL, University Hospital Behavioral Health.
Challenges: limited bed availability and financial barriers for patients.
Solutions: single case agreements and onsite educational/vocational support.
Refers clients to out-of-community facilities for specialized care.
Referrals necessary due to limited capacity for extended treatment options.
Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta is keen on responding to serious mental disorder emergences including; anxiety, mood issues, and suicidal thoughts and this is in harmony with a major social need in society. Other local organizations that are also involved in addressing these challenges include; Serenity Behavioral Health Systems, Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL), and University Hospital Behavioral Health. Challenges that lie ahead include inadequate number of beds in the center during peak demand and costs of care that prove prohibitive to patients with low insurance cover (UHS-NVT, n.d.). In order to overcome these challenges in the facility, they engage in the signing of single case with the insurers to enable numerous improvements in the treatment of the patient, the facility also organizes educative and vocational programs that are under taken within the compound to help improve on the health and wellbeing of the patient. Lighthouse cannot provide specialized or long-term care, but it does make arrangements for its clients to be taken to other institutions. Such referrals are crucial because the center might not offer protracted treatment procedures, to guarantee the patients seek the right care at the right time.

Community Role and Engagement
Mission Statement: To promote hope and healing through compassionate and competent mental health treatment.
Service Approach: They have variety of programs; crisis stabilization, partial hospitalization, and acute residential, thus making it unique from other mental health facilities in the same region.
Community Partnerships: Partner with schools, hospitals and insurance organizations to provide services and maintain client’s follow-up.
Challenges: Lack of or inadequate mental health literacy, and negative attitudes in the general population.
Client Access: Clients only get to this facility by referrals, insurance coverage, or through word around the society. The onsite assessments also help to simplify the intake procedure.
Referral System: Sometimes they recommend their clients to other service providers or agencies beyond the community if the case is complicated to solve.
Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta also has a strong focus on the mental health of its clients who require professional help dealing with anxiety, mood disorders, or other mental health problems. Its purpose is to instill and promote hope and recovery since the community lacks adequate mental health services or affordable quality services. For that reason, the center provides a wider variety of fundamental programs such as crisis stabilization, partial hospitalization, as well as acute residential care, while other local facilities offer similar services. (UHS-NVT. n.d.). To enhance its service delivery the agency collaborates with schools, healthcare providers, and insurance companies for accessibility and continuity of services. The organization also wrestles with issues, such as mental health, including stigmatization, which the organization seeks to address through advocacy. Where there are financial constraints, Lighthouse accepts all types of insurance plans and seeks single case solutions where required. The clients usually visit the center through recommendations, insurance providers, or word of mouth, and receive assessments for individual therapy. Where necessary, the center forwards clients to other practitioners so that they may provide the extra care that maybe required in complicated cases
