Creating a problem statement is the foundation to your DBA project. It is the core of your research and, thus, must be solid. Based on the resources you have reviewed and the feedback you have received, you should refine and adjust appropriately.

Assignment Description

1. Refine the Background of a Problem and check

· Current data and facts support the existence of the problem

· The impact of the problem is clearly presented

· The information describes who is impacted and how with current research

· The background logically transitions to the problem statement

3. Check that your sources are current

Write out the Background of the Problem.  Based on the template, your submission should provide “insights and perspectives for why the study should be conducted by presenting evidence that the problem exists with current data taken from valid and reliable sources. State clearly why the problem of pressing societal concern or theoretical interest and who is impacted by the problem. Information in this section should include historical facts and statistical data which supports the existence of the problem." 

This section should be approximately 1.5 pages

· There is evidence that the problem exists and can be studied.

· The problem statement ends with a statement of the consequences for not addressing the problem.

Validate your Problem Statement. Based on the template: “The statement of the problem should smoothly flow from the background section, succinctly stating the issue that needs to be studied. The problem statement briefly describes facts that support the need to conduct the study. Clearly indicating who is impacted by the problem and presenting evidence to support the existence of the problem. The Problem Statement will be half to three quarters of page

Note: lack of research is not a justification for a study

Be sure to state, “The general problem is…” and then within the statement, define, “The specific problem is…"
