Persuasive Annotated Bibliography
An annotated bibliography consists of a list of Works Cited entries, each followed by a paragraph of summary and a few sentences explaining how you plan to use that information in your speech. This is the best way to prepare to write a research-based academic synthesis speech because locating, reading, and annotating your sources early will help you to better understand the debate at hand, begin forming mini-summaries that you might be able to use in your speech, and select passages that you will quote in your final speech. An additional bonus of putting together an annotated bibliography is that when you are done, you will have a rough outline of your speech and a head start on your Works Cited page. For this assignment, three annotations are needed.
1. A minimum of 5 sources is required (1 should be an academic, peer-reviewed article)
2. Reference page should be in alphabetical order with a hanging indent. There is an example on your Blackboard course by following this pathway: Speech help>General help>reference page
3. Check APA formatting. One of my favorite websites for this is https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/reference_list_basic_rules.html
4. Make sure that you have all of your references cited within the body of your outline as well.
