PEA#1: Belief Statement

Re-read John Dewey's Pedagogical Creed in the  Beginnings and Beyond text and the NAEYC Code of Ethics in the  Ethics and the Early Childhood Educator text and then write your own educational statement of belief-or pedagogical creed.

Pedagogic- Having to do with Education and/or Learning

Creed - Statement of belief

Assignment: Write a one to two page paper that describes your beliefs about education and how young children should be taught. Include your thoughts on what skills, values or attributes are important for effective teachers to have. Be able to support your ideas or beliefs with examples (either personal examples, data or statistics, or references to education theories. When making references to theories, data or statistics, please remember to include an in-text citation in the body of your paper and also a Citations page at the end of the paper using APA formatting.

Format: 

· Minimum of one complete typed, double spaced page using a 12 point standard font. Margins should be one inch on each side.

· Do not use lists or bulleted points for this paper.

· Please use appropriate paragraph structure, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

· Review the section on plagiarism. Plagiarism and academic dishonesty is not allowed. Any reference to the ideas, writings or works of others should be  properly cited within the text and also supported with a Citations Page/Bibliography  (on a separate page) at the end of your paper.

· The paper should have a clear beginning, well developed thoughts throughout the body of the paper, and an appropriate conclusion.

· Please note that to earn the highest amount of points on the rubric you will need to include an APA in-text citation and Citation/Bibliography page at the end of your paper.
