SMART Goals Evaluation

Think back to the five SMART goals you created earlier in the term. Write a reflection paper following APA format and consisting of 750-1000 words in length. Then, create a 5–7-minute reflection video using the word document which evaluates each SMART goal that you created. Use Teams, Zoom, or Canvas Studio's Screen Capture feature to record your presentation.  Your face must be visible on camera (in the corner as you present your paper). You must introduce yourself and show your identification. You must dress professionally or your presentation will not be graded.

Use the following questions to guide your response:

1. What were you expecting from the experience before you started?

2. Why were you expecting this?

3. Why did you choose this goal?

4. Did you learn anything about a different group in society (i.e., different age, profession, ethnic, racial or socio-economic group)? What did you learn?

5. What is the most valuable experience you acquired?

6. What impact did the experience have on your everyday life?

7. What did you learn that was directly related to your course objectives?

SMART Goals for My Clinical Experience.

Emmanuel V. Rodriguez Arriola St. Thomas University NUR 620CL PSYCHIATRIC MANAGEMENT I Dr. Shin 10/21/2024

Here is where My presentation begins

Introduction  The SMART goal is important for helping one

stay on track and motivated.

 It will help me accomplish my objectives successfully.

Goal 1: Improving Skills in Patient Education

 I will:  S: Improve my skills in patient education  M: Measure by counting the number of sessions that have been delivered

and get feedback from the patients.  A: Achieve it through interacting with patients.  R: Realize it because patient education is one of my duties in my

workplace.  T: Achieve it by the end of this rotation

Goal 2: Enhancing Documentation Practices

 I consider the documentation process one of the areas I need to improve on the most.  Therefore, I will:  S: Work towards enhancing my documentation practices.  M; Measure it through monitoring my performance in weekly audits and calculating the

percentage of compliance.  A: Achieve it by leveraging my position working under the supervision of my preceptor,

conducting self-assessments, and using feedback that will be given to me to make improvements as I progress.

 R: Realize it by prioritizing it as part of my duty to ensure that the patient records are well kept, well-kept, and accessible.

 T: Accomplish it within the first four weeks of this clinical rotation.

Goal 3: Mastering IV Insertion Techniques

I struggle a little with IV insertion, therefore, I consider it a significant area of

improvement.

I aim to;  S: master the technique to promote patient safety and

their quality of life. M: Measure it by tracking the number of insertions that I

conduct. A: Achieve it through practice in clinical labs and during

the shifts. R: Realize it by prioritizing it as a standard procedure in

the nursing practice. T: Accomplish it within the first six weeks of this rotation.

Goal 4: Enhancing Leadership Competencies During Shift

Changeovers

I have always aspired to be a great leader and help others achieve their goals. Therefore, I aim to:

S: Target leading handovers to enhance my leadership. M: Measure it through my ability to undertake two shift handovers successfully.

A: Achieve it through the help of other qualified nurses. R: Realize it by aligning it with my career goal of leadership and teamwork.

T: Achieve it by the end of this clinical rotation.

Goal 5: Improving on Time Management

 One of my biggest weaknesses, especially in my personal life is time management.

 Therefore, I aim to:

 Improve my ability to manage tasks.

 M: Measure it by recording the time spent on activities weekly and observe progress.

 A: Achieve it by making slight changes in the workflow.

 R: Realize it by aligning it with my overall goals.

 T: chieve a 15% reduction by the end of this last week of rotation

Challenges of Developing SMART Goals

 Developing SMART goals requires significant consideration.

 Some of my goals will require extra effort, such as frequent access to IV equipment.

Matching SMART Goals With Course Learning Outcomes and Passions

My goals are better achieved if they align with my passions and course outcomes. By doing this, I have a more valuable learning process.

Supervision of Progress and Accountability

It is important to monitor my progress, which promotes accountability.

I will dedicate myself toward doing this to ensure I achieve my goals.

The Role of Reflection and Personal Growth I will engage in self-reflection to monitor and substantiate my growth. This will require a few hours every week.

Conclusion

 Accomplishing these goals will be important for my overall individual and academic experience.

 They will lay the foundation for a better professional future.
