In Module 1, students are introduced to two major graduate (level 2) nursing competency domains: Domain 1 Knowledge for Nursing Practice and Domain 4 Scholarship for the Nursing Discipline. Technical writing and oral communication skills are introduced as key elements of scholarship and knowledge exchange. For this assignment students will practice what they have learned about technical writing and oral communication to prepare for and complete a virtual podium presentation. The virtual podium presentations are part of an interdisciplinary symposium on graduate education in the health professions. Each student will develop a brief presentation (10-15 minutes) to help their non-nursing colleagues understand the distinct nursing perspective and where shared perspectives exist with other disciplines. The presentations also must help non-nursing colleagues understand how DNP prepared nurses are equipped to engage in the scholarship of practice. Podium speakers must provide a handout (maximum 2 single-spaced pages) and a slide deck (maximum 15 slides). The virtual presentation must be recorded as a video (maximum 15 minutes) and uploaded to the course media gallery. Students are also expected to engage in knowledge exchange via peer feedback. Each student must view and reflect on the podium presentation of at least one peer in their section. Upon reflection of the peer presentation and handout, each student will complete and submit a speaker evaluation form to the student and also to the canvas assignment page.
