For this project, I have decided to collaborate with a close relative of mine, Osman Eygu, as my client. He currently works at Nike headquarters located in Oregon, serving as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). In his previous roles, Osman has amassed experience working for several corporate companies, including Walgreens. His primary responsibilities involve designing, developing, and maintaining a Test Automation Framework that verifies user stories and system requirements. Within his role at Nike, his project as an SDET focuses on the continuous testing of features, enhancements, upgrades, and bug fixes in product development.

When it came to selecting a topic, my client and I decided to pursue our research in automation. He specifically chose automation for various reasons, including how automation can cut costs and time within corporate companies, its reusability, and its capability to test various applications. This choice stems from a keen understanding of automation's potential to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure the quality and reliability of software applications in a fast-paced corporate environment. Our research will delve into the nuances of automation within the IT landscape, exploring its benefits, challenges, and the latest technological advancements that can be leveraged to optimize testing and development processes at Nike and similar corporate companies. The topic isn’t too broad or narrow, in all means theres a lot of information out there, it’s all determined by how you search for them.

I have received confirmation from my client, who is fully informed about the circumstances and the project proposal. Regarding communication, we have agreed to use WhatsApp for both video and phone calls. Finally, I will be interviewing my client in the upcoming days.

In this assignment, students will interview their selected IT professionals (client) and have an in-depth discussion about the client’s job AND his/her information need on a topic related to his/her job and then write a 2-page “Interview Summary” paper (double-spaced) about their interview with the IT client. Note: The interview is to focus on the IT client’s job and a specific “information need” he/she has related to the job – not a personal discussion about the client’s family, education, hobbies, interests, etc. Once the information need has been identified and discussed, you (the student consultant) will research and locate information sources to support the client’s information need by preparing an Annotated Bibliography to submit to the client (and your instructor) for their review and feedback in IC Project Assignment 3. The interview with the IT professional (client) is recommended to take place in-person as a “professional” meeting at the IT Professional’s site. If this is not possible, the interview may take place informally with the IT professional (client) through a phone call, email, or synchronous meeting (e.g., Skype, Google Hangout, Zoom, etc.); however, texting the client is not an acceptable form of communication for the interview. The interview with the IT professional (client) should include a discussion of the following topics and be included in the Interview Summary paper: ( each bullet should be a separate paragraph )

· Identify/explain how the interview took place (in-person, telephone, conferencing?) and for what length of time (e.g., 15 mins., 30 mins., 1 hour?)

· IT professional’s (client) name and organization where he/she works

· IT professional’s (client) job position/title in the organization

· Background information about the organization (what is the organization’s primary business, service, or function?)

· Background information about the IT professional’s job including:

· Department where he/she works in the organization and its primary strategic goal/mission in the organization.

· Client’s job description, job responsibilities, how the position relates to “IT” (information technology), and whom he/she services or supports in the organization and in what capacity.

· Background information about the client’s topic and information need (what is the client looking to understand, learn about, or otherwise become familiar with a topic relevant to his/her work role? How will these information sources be used?). Did you refine the IT client's information need (or change to a different information need) since the IC Project Proposal in order to identify a more feasible topic that would produce relevant information sources when conducting searches? (explain)

Note: Be sure to take notes throughout the interview on the above topics. The information you will obtain from the interview will be important not only for this assignment, but also to help you conceptualize the IT professional’s job and provide necessary background information about the information need so you may adequately research and locate relevant information sources for ICP Assignments 3 & 4.

ITI 220 10 Fall 2015 9/30/15 – Parth, P, Summary of IT Client Interview

The interview with my IT client, Shaifali Patel, was conducted over the phone on Friday,

September 25. I know Mrs. Patel on a personal level because she is my aunt. The interview

lasted about 35 to 40 minutes and I was able to gain a substantial amount of information that will

help me in completing this project. We conducted the interview over the phone because it was

the most convenient method, since we were not able to meet in person.

Mrs. Patel works at Morgan Stanley in New York, NY where she is a member of the

Global Technology Group as Senior Project Manager and Vice President. Morgan Stanley is a

global financial services firm which, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, provides investment

banking products and services to its clients. Some of the services offered are asset management,

investment and commercial banking, and prime brokerage. The company divides its business

into three segments: Institutional Securities Group, Investment Management, and Wealth

Management. Institutional Securities provides financial advisory and capital raising services.

Investment Management provides asset management products in investments and equity. Wealth

Management is the segment that Mrs. Patel is a part of which provides brokerage and investment

advisory services.

As mentioned previously, Shaifali Patel is a member of the Global Technology Group

that is part of the Wealth Management segment. As a Project Manager she supports various

business initiatives where her primary responsibilities include planning, executing, and finalizing

projects according to strict deadlines and within the budget. As well as, acquiring resources, both

direct and virtual, and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or

consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Since a lot of interactions dealing with projects is performed online through a network of

computers, maintaining proper network security has been a top priority in her work. Currently

Mrs. Patel and her team are looking to expand services and information currently available on

the MSOnline website. Availability of additional products and information creates an even

higher need for them to ensure appropriate measures are in place to thwart any vulnerability.

With that in mind, we decided that I will be researching the various network security

threats that pose a concern and finding relevant countermeasures. Some specific threats related to

her work are forceful browsing, clickjacking, and SQL injection. Mrs. Patel would like for me to

research other potential security threats and security practices by focusing on how to prevent and

how to remediate each class of vulnerability. She would like to understand the security threats

that are a part of her work because she deals with a lot of sensitive information that must be

protected. I plan on retrieving information about specific security threats that can be of use in

implementing effective solutions to these threats. Throughout my research I hope to find a

security practice that Mrs. Patel and her team can effectively put to use.
