Module 5, Assignment 1

Assignment: For this assignment you will be creating a professional blog or web page based on your particular area of interest or major. If you already have one of these sites created, fine. You may link it to the one you will be creating specifically for this course. If your major is English, then you may create a site based on your favorite writer or genre of literature. If your major is nursing, you will create a site based on some aspect of nursing that is important to you. If you are an Economics major, then find something you feel may benefit others when dealing with the current state of the economy. Whichever medium you choose, you must layer your information by linking to other appropriate sites for support. One of your links should be your own Module 4 assignment of the digitized text. Remember that this is a professional creation, so you should take care to keep it based on factual information, not opinion. This site should be one to which you could direct a prospective employer so that he or she can get a better idea of who you are and how you relate to your field of study.

Writing Assignment: Write a few sentences of self-introduction to be included in your online site. You may also want to add other essays you have written in your field along with your digitized paper. Adding appropriate photos is another option you may want to explore. It really just depends on what you want to communicate to your audience as to what you will use to create your professional site. Post your gathered information to Discussion area 5.1. Look through your classmates' postings for more ideas for your own site.

Internet Reading Assignment: Surf the net. Use your Internet browsing skills to find information, graphics, videos and appropriate websites that focus on your area of interest. Choose your material carefully, as you'll be constructing a professional online site using these links. Be sure to start a link library to keep track of your findings so you can easily find and use them later.
