Complete the EHRGo EHR Assignment - Posting a Payment.

Purpose

In this assignment, you will gain hands-on experience with payment  posting and account adjustments using the EHRGo platform. These  processes are critical components of the healthcare revenue cycle and  ensure that payer payments, patient responsibility, and contractual  adjustments are applied accurately.

You will review a patient account, interpret remittance information,  post payments, apply adjustments, and evaluate how these actions support  reimbursement accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity.

Instructions

1. Access the Assignment

• Log in to EHRGo using the access code provided by your instructor.
   
  • Navigate to: Activities → Posting Payments and Adjustments A
     
  • Click Launch EHR to access the patient chart

Step 2: Review the Patient Account

Carefully examine:

• Patient demographics
• Payer information
• Charges and claim details
• Remittance Advice (EOB)
• Current account balance

As you review, identify:

• What the insurance paid
• What adjustments are required
• What portion is the patient’s responsibility

Step 3: Post Payments and Adjustments

Using the activity instructions in EHRGo, complete the following:

• Complete all required ledger entries, including:
   
  • Multiple payer payments (EFT)
  • Insurance adjustments (provider responsibility)
  • Patient responsibility transfers (coinsurance)

*All transactions must be entered accurately so the final ledger reflects the correct balance.*

Ensure:

• Payments are applied to the correct charges
• Adjustments reflect allowed vs. charged amounts
• All entries are accurate and complete
• The final balance updates correctly

Step 4: Download Your Progress Report

• Once completed: 
  • Click “Download Work” in EHRGo
  • Save your Progress Report

This report serves as your proof of completion.

Step 5: Reflection (Critical Thinking)

In a separate Word document, respond to the following (4–6 sentences each):

1. Why is accurate payment posting and adjustment processing important in the revenue cycle?
2. How can errors in posting payments or adjustments impact reimbursement, denials, or audits?
3. How do proper payment posting practices support compliance and fraud prevention?

Submission Requirements

Submit two files:

1. EHRGo Progress Report

• Must clearly show completion of the activity
• Demonstrates payment and adjustment entries

2. Reflection Document (Word)

Include:

• Your name, course, and date
• APA title page
