Go to the U.S Treasury website to find the latest information available on the size of the U.S national debt. Specifically, go to www.treasurydirect.gov. Under ‘Government’, click on Public Debt Reports. ‘Click on the ‘Debt to the Penny’. This will bring up the relevant tables. For example, on May 4, 2016, the size of the national debt was $19.21 trillion.

Questions:

1. What is the most recent dollar value of the U.S national debt?

2.  Calculate the percentage change in the U.S national debt since May 4, 2016.
