The study materials have covered some important foundational information regarding PKI systems. One of the initial planning stages for PKI is not dissimilar from the initial planning stages for adopting any new technology: the "build versus buy" decision. In order to properly address this stage of a PKI adoption project, it is necessary to first know what the options are that are available to the decision makers. Use the study materials and engage in any research needed to fill in the knowledge gaps. Discuss the following:
o What are the options that are available for outsourcing to a commercial PKI?
o What criteria would be necessary to make an effective evaluation of the available outsourcing alternatives?
o What kinds of resources are necessary for an organization that chooses to stand up their own PKI for internal use only?
