Initial Post (Answer all parts in 150–200 words):

1. What career did you focus on during your worksheet, and why did you choose it?

2. What’s something  new or unexpected you learned about this career from your research? (For example: job outlook, salary, typical workday, required education, or advancement opportunities.)

3. What’s one next step you plan to take (or are thinking about taking) to prepare for this career while you’re at Durham Tech?

This assignment helps you explore potential careers and make informed decisions about your future goals. You’ll take two career assessments through NCcareers.org, research a chosen career using  NCcareers, the  Occupational Outlook Handbook, and  Ferguson’s Career Guide, and write a short summary of what you find.

This is a chance to see how your interests and values match real careers—and how your academic path at Durham Tech can help you get there.

✍️  Instructions

🔹  Part 1: Career Assessments & Reflections (50 points)

1. Log in to  NCcareers.orgLinks to an external site.

· Complete the  Interest Finder and  Work Values Sorter (save your results with your name visible)

2. Answer reflection questions in the  worksheet  Download worksheet based on:

· Your top interests and values

· Career options that match them

· Research from  NCcareers,  Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), and  Ferguson’s Career Guide

· A job listing related to your career goal from  College Central Network

3. Upload your completed worksheet + your assessment results

🔹  Part 2: Career Summary (50 points)

4. Write a 1-page, double-spaced summary (at least 3 paragraphs) based on your career research from:

· NCcareers.org

· Occupational Outlook Handbook

· Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center

🔎  Focus on facts, not personal opinions. Describe the job, education/training needed, work environment, job outlook, and more. Include  MLA-style in-text citations and a Works Cited section.

5. Submit ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS to Canvas
