1. Identify and summarize the different forms of illegal discrimination? What are some steps companies can take to ensure that they are not illegally discriminating?

2. What are the basic international business strategies that companies can pursue? Why would it be important for an American HR manager to understand the culture of a country in which the company has employees located?

3. What are the human resource management implications for each international business strategy? Knowing this, would you want to take on the role of HR manager for a company that is involved in an international business strategy?

4. What is the influence of organizational purpose (vision) and mission, as well as top management, on human resource strategy for any company? If you were an HR manager, how would you position the importance of human resource management to the top management team of the company for which you work?

5. If you were an aide to President Trump or President Biden (you select which president you want to advise) how would you advise him on the issue of the approximately 12 million individuals who are in the United States without legal authorization. How would your advice affect the economy?

6. Discuss the historical evolution of labor unions in the United States.

7. Currently the state of Mississippi does not legally recognize public sector unions. If you were a Mississippi legislator and could vote to change this, would you? Why or why not?

8. What are the differences between a job description and job specifications? Why is it important to have both? In building a job description, can all jobs be analyzed? Why or why not?
