Select ONE of the following questions to write your essay on:

1. To what extent is the ‘Standard of Civilization’ relevant for understanding contemporary global governance structures?

2. What is the relationship between global governance and the liberal international order?

3. Is international humanitarian law fit to address the ethical challenges posed by autonomous weapons systems?

4. How do international institutions address gender inequalities? Answer with reference to at least one international institution

5. What are the key challenges to the legitimacy of the International Criminal Court?

6. How does power inequality structure relationships between different global governance actors? Answer with reference to at least one issue area (global health, global trade, nuclear non-proliferation)

You are required to submit a 3000-word essay. A set of essay questions will be provided, the students will select one question and use both primary and secondary sources to build up their arguments in the essay. This allows students to demonstrate acquisition of knowledge, analytical capacity, and research skills on specific topics.

 

Deadline: 12 noon, 15th April 2024

 

Essays should be typed with font 12 with the word count stated under the essay title.
