CONTENT GUIDELINES: The first component of the paper requires engaging in “self reflection” of how 1 to 2 of the college student development theories covered throughout the term have helped you to acquire a greater self-awareness of one’s own cognitive and social identity development to inform future professional practice. Thus, how did the theories from this course help you to better understand your own development and identity? In turn, how will this help you to relate to college students in your work and practice as a student affairs professional? This component of the paper should be 1- 2 pages in length.

For the second component of the paper, expound on how 2 to 3 of the student development theories (be sure to select different theories for this component of the paper than you addressed in the first component) covered in the course will serve to have the greatest influence on your future practice and dispositions as a student affairs professional/practitioner. This portion of the paper, which should be the largest component of the paper, should be 2-3 pages in length, depending upon the length of the first component of your paper in reaching the 4-5 page limit . Page lengths exclude title page and reference pages.

FORMAT REQUIREMENTS: The paper will be 4-5 total (typed) pages in length using 1-inch margins, 12 point, Times New Roman font. While first person pronouns (e.g., “I,” “my,” etc.) are needed in writing a personal professional philosophy, students are expected to produce a paper that is reflective of high quality, graduate-level writing in terms of using appropriate grammar, word choice, organization, etc.
