AA6666

Revisions should be made using the “Track Changes” feature of MSWord and must be accompanied by an action statement that discusses what changes were made and why. Work submitted late may not be revised for a higher grade.

Assignment:

After reading Bullock’s “Annotated Bibliographies” and familiarizing yourself with several sources on your subject, generate an annotated bibliography of six (6) key texts that you plan to draw from in your policy brief. When writing your annotations, recall the features of a successful annotated bibliography outlined by Bullock:

  1. A statement of scope
  2. Complete bibliographic information (in 8th edition MLA style (Links to an external site.))
  3. Concise description and evaluation of the work
  4. Relevant commentary
  5. Consistent presentation

Audience:

As you write this annotated bibliography, imagine you’ve hired a research assistant to help with your project research. What scholarly research does he or she need to read to understand your topic? Keep your audience in mind as you compose your project.

Guidelines:

  • Prioritize current scholarly and peer-reviewed sources*.
  • Organize your chosen citations in MLA style and list them in alphabetical order.
  • Each citation should be followed by a brief descriptive and evaluative paragraph—the annotation.
  • The annotation should inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the source cited.
  • Students are encouraged to use quality online guidebooks like the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) (Links to an external site.) and platforms like RefWorks to organize source material and assure a correct bibliography.

*Here's some additional information on identifying scholarly and peer-reviewed sources.
