  • Please reply to one of the following topics; also, please reply to one of your peers. Both of your posts should be well-considered and philosophically meaningful ("Good work! I agree!!" is not sufficient).  You should have two posts at the minimum:

    1. Kant’s emphasis is on what you do, not what might happen after you do it. The reason for this is complex, but one simple point he is making is that morality is up to the individual to do. This is impossible if you only look at the outcome (like utilitarians), then morality is largely not up to you at all. [This is the killer at the door scenario, btw]. What do you think about this?

    2. According to the categorical imperative, lying to someone is wrong because it is disrespecting her (and yourself). Do you think there is a way to lie to someone while still maintaining their dignity? (And for the record, Kant would say, ‘absolutely not!’)
