Ethics, Due tonight!!!

Do you think the author's conclusion that ethics and religion are different subjects is correct? Does it make sense to use any religious text as a source of ethics if the text doesn't offer an argument for it's ethical conclusions (in other words, is there a good reason to use a religious text [Bible, Qu'ran, Book of Mormon, Dhammapada, Upanishads, etc.] to help your argument if that text does not give a reason why something is wrong?)
