The Professional Standards for Educational Leaders 2015, formerly referred to as the ISLLC standards, were released by the National Policy Board for Educational Administration (NPBEA). The standards apply to principals, assistant principals, and district leaders as they engage in the work of school leadership. What is significant about the manner in which these standards were developed? Why is this significant? What research-based practices could most meaningfully inform implementation of Standard 9 as it relates to managing governance processes and internal and external politics for responding to and enacting policy mandates?
