The paper should be between 5-7 pages (a maximum of 7 pages) in length, including a reference and title page and should utilize at least 4 peer-reviewed journal articles. Students will review a case vignette and determine the developmental stage of the individual and assess how well the individual is achieving the developmental tasks and issues present at the Biological, Psychological, and Social dimensions as discussed in the textbook and class lecture.  Students must adhere to APA format. Students will demonstrate the application of Social Work values and the Saint Leo University Value of personal development into the material covered. The case and specific questions for analysis are below. Pay close attention to the rubric.

Developmental Analysis Case 2

Anna is a divorced, Latina female, age 47.  She has two children aged 23 and 26 who live out of state. She has been divorced for 4 years and had some problems adjusting back to being single and on her own. She had married her High School sweetheart and was shocked when he asked for a divorce. But she feels proud to have gotten through that difficult period.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in English and works for the local newspaper.  She lives in a small apartment in a quiet suburb outside of Tampa, FL. She belongs to a book club, takes cooking classes, and also goes to exercise classes several times a week at her local gym. She is very healthy and sees several friends in the area at least once a week.

Anna grew up in a close knit family.  Her parents have a strong marriage and she has 2 older sisters.  Her parents are 87 (Fa.) and 80 (Mo.) years of age and are beginning to have health problems. Her father has diabetes and COPD and her Mom has arthritis and has difficulty walking. Anna is the only one living in town and takes care of her parents as best that she can. She drives them to their appointments and tries to help with errands and the upkeep of their small house. She brings them to church every Sunday. Her parents put pressure on her to move in with them, but Anna wants to have some freedom.

Her parents hold strong beliefs regarding their Catholic religion and morals/values.  They are proud of Anna for earning her degree, but are disappointed that she is divorced and wish that she would find a good man and get married again soon.

Anna has met someone at work whom she has started seeing.  He is an African American man, age 50 (Robert).  She enjoys spending time with him, they share many things in common, and she is starting to fall in love with him.  Anna is starting to feel unsure as her relationship with Robert progresses.  He is not Catholic like she is and he would like to live together first before they commit to marriage.  Anna is unsure about her views on Catholicism.  She agrees with some beliefs of the religion and disagrees with others.  She believes living together first might be a good idea, especially since they are both divorced.

Anna’s parents and sisters do not see things the same way.  They are not happy that Anna is dating a man of a different race and religion.  They are very against the idea of living together before marriage.  They believe premarital sex is a sin and is very serious.

Due to the tension, Anna is having trouble with anxiety.  She worries, has trouble sleeping and is unable to focus at work.  Her Supervisor is concerned about her not meeting her deadlines at work. She is confused regarding her feelings and her relationship with Robert is suffering.  Robert wonders why Anna is so confused and concerned with what her parents think.  Anna feels like she is being pushed and pulled in different directions.  She has never outwardly disagreed or challenged her parents before.  She feels so unsure about everything.

Thoroughly assess Anna based on the information provided in the case.

Determine and describe the developmental stage Anna is in and what tasks should be accomplished in the stage. Based on your learning and reading, is Anna ahead, behind, or on target? Why might there be differences? Use your learning from the class and apply it to analyze the case. The rubric provides the specific factors involved in each dimension mentioned below.DO NOT prescribe or discuss treatment and treatment plans. This is an analysis only. It is also different from the Biopsychosocial assessment you did in another class. Be sure to include the Headings below in the paper.
