Delivering a Policy Statement
Introduction:
Writing policies and statements on behalf of your organization is one of the most common technical writing procedures in the workplace. While our previous modules have relied heavily on the importance of data and research, it is also important to understand how writing with an objective (regardless of the technical-related content) is crucial in our day-to-day responsibilities.
Instructions:
In this discussion post, you will assume the position of the director of a company. You are tasked with defining a new policy in your organization for those who report to you.
Examples include:
Employees are to wear clothing that covers any tattoos on their arms
A new radiation lab procedure
Updated computer security system
Be prepared to write to your intended audience (your coworkers, in this example) and provide an introduction and major points in your initial post. You should also provide background information in your introduction.
