In the textbook PPT, skip the house of quality and learn about Taguchi Loss Function, then DFM and DFE (Design for Sustainability). See if you can come up with examples of such produce designs in your everyday life. In the service sector, the servicescape concept and service encounter (high vs. low customer contact) are important. Watch the Ikea video and learn what servicescape it is using and why. You also need to think about examples of companies turning what used to be high contact service into low contact and why they did it. What is your experience with high vs low contact services?

In my own PPT and the video on product design, you learn the difficulties and processes involved in turning concepts into products in various industries. I also gave a few examples of product designs. What product designs (unreasonable, women friendly, eco friendly, senior friendly) strike you the most? Do you have personal experience with such designs? In the service design slides, I started with luggage handling and asked the very basic question of reuniting luggage and passenger after they are separated at departure city. Similar principles are used in restaurant service design to develop the very many business models we see today. I hope you are inspired by the way we see and analyze this idea and create variations of bringing hungry people and food together.

I include videos on two new products that are motivated by social inequality and one that's kind of a novelty item for you to think about.

And I hope the Gas Delivery podcast can help you learn about how these new ideas can be turned into a potentially profitable business. Learn to critique such business ideas as you see them.
