Historical  analysis becomes vital when we use it to decode our present world. This  assignment asks you to find a high-quality, current news article  (published within the last 60 days) and trace its contemporary issues  back to the twentieth-century themes explored in this module—such as  state conflict, systemic inequality, propaganda, civil disobedience, or  civil rights in times of crisis.

Instructions:

1. Select an Article:  Find an article from a reputable news source detailing a current  geopolitical conflict, international human rights issue, or systemic  socio-political debate.
    
2. Summary & Context (1 paragraph): Briefly outline the core facts of the current event. Who are the stakeholders, and what is the immediate issue?
    
3. Historical Synthesis (1-2 paragraphs):  Formally connect this contemporary issue to the themes of Module 4. How  do the legacies of the World Wars, the rhetoric of fighting for  democracy abroad, or the strategies of civil rights advocacy outlined in  the "Letter from Birmingham Jail" help explain the roots or tactics of  this modern event?
