Directions:

The candidate will demonstrate understanding using the skills required to improve reading

comprehension. First, give a summary of your Student’s Profile that you are building using the

Reading Performance and information from past Module Task assignments.

Select or create an appropriate cloze procedure assessment from collaborative, online,

and/or scholarly resources. The textbook has instructions on constructing a cloze procedure

assessment. Administer the cloze procedure assessment to your targeted student. Analyze the cloze

procedure assessment data (determine reading level).

Then, make suggestions for strategies to increase reading accuracy (complete the Backward

Design Lesson Plan (Appendix B) by formulating suggestions for strategies or lessons to increase

reading accuracy based on the student’s profile and cloze procedure assessment data. Write and

submit to Canvas a Cloze Procedure Analysis Paper (attach a scanned copy of the completed cloze

What students will learn...

AR Standards:

Targeted Grade Level:

This should directly relate to the academic development of your exceptional (struggling) student.

Step 2 Assessment Evidence:

Informative check for learning

Performance task:

What will students do to show what they have learned?

Assessment of Student Learning: What measurable criteria are necessary to show mastery of the skill?

Performance criteria:

How good is good enough to meet standards? Provide checklists, rubric, or criteria… Example: The student will be able to match 10 out of 15 cards correctly to show mastery.

Step 3 Learning Plan:

Detailed enough for another teacher to follow…

Purpose:

Why did you choose this Narrative or Informational Text Strategy? What is the objective of the strategy? How does this strategy align with the needs of your struggling student?

Learning activities:

Steps for students. Use action verbs (step by step from start to finish) …
