The purpose of this assignment is to describe the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development that occurs in early childhood (ages 3 through 6). (CO3) and Examine the role of play in the learning process of young children. (CO4)

Directions

Imagine you are a teacher in a preschool or childcare setting working with children 3 to 5 years old. You want to promote growth in each of the developmental domains: physical, cognitive, social, and emotional. Using the  Assignment 3: Promoting Development and Developmentally Appropriate Practice Template  [content]you will:

· Choose five (5) activities for EACH developmental domain. (For example: 5 for cognitive, 5 for physical, 5 for social-emotional, language, etc.)

· For each activity, you must:

· Identify the materials needed.

· Describe the activity in detail so the instructor understands exactly what the children will do.

· Explain how the activity supports development in that specific domain.

· This explanation is your  rationale, in otherwords, why you chose the activity and how it benefits the child’s growth.

· Include at least one cited reference that supports each of your rationales throughout the domains. Use sources to support your rationale  (e.g., textbook, scholarly article, or credible early childhood resource). Therefore, every activity must have  its own rationale with  its own citation.

· All writing must be  in your own words and follow  current APA format for citations and references.

 Please be sure that each of your activities is developmentally appropriate for your target age. You will have 20 activities total for this assignment.  PLEASE WRITE IN COMPLETE SENTENCES AND FULLY DESCRIBE YOUR ACTIVITIES AND RATIONALE.
