Rather than summarizing articles, you will practice identifying an author’s purpose, research focus, theoretical or conceptual grounding, and key contributions to the field. This exercise lays the foundation for synthesis, organization, and gap identification in later weeks.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this exercise, you will be able to:

· Evaluate scholarly sources using advanced search strategies and credibility criteria

· Analyze peer-reviewed research beyond surface-level summary

· Apply Galvan & Galvan’s deep-analysis framework to scholarly articles

· Communicate scholarly analysis using complete academic paragraphs

(Aligned to Course Learning Outcomes 2, 3, and 7)

Instructions

1. Use the NSU Alvin Sherman Library databases ( https://sherman.library.nova.eduLinks to an external site. ) to locate  one peer-reviewed scholarly article relevant to an emerging trend, issue, or innovation in learning or organizational contexts.

2. The article must be published within the  last five years.

3. Read the article carefully, applying the  deep analysis strategies outlined in Galvan & Galvan (Chapter 5).

4. Write a scholarly response addressing the prompt below.

5. Submit your original response  by Friday at 11:59 PM ET to enable peer review in Canvas.

6. Complete  one peer review using the same rubric by  Sunday at 11:59 PM ET.

Prompt

· Describe the  purpose of the study and the type of research conducted (e.g., conceptual, qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods).

· Analyze how the author(s)  frame the issue using theory, prior research, or conceptual perspectives.

· Discuss one or two  key insights or contributions the article makes to understanding the topic, trend, or problem of practice.

Your response must be written in  complete academic paragraphs (5–6 sentences each) and demonstrate  analysis rather than summary. Integrate  at least two scholarly sources, one of which may be the  Galvan & Galvan textbook. The other one is the scholarly article.
