To create a measure of central tendency, I would suggest taking the average of each quarter's sales then finding the mean of those totals.  We would look at sales and quarters for our variables.  Because each quarter differs significantly, or is dispersed, we would need to measure the dispersion by finding the standard deviation or range.  This would help create our benchmark to see how well we are doing in terms of sales.
