Prepare

In this assignment, you will continue developing your Learning Plan. So far, you have created a statement of purpose and created a plan for effectively integrating feedback. This week, you will support the problem of practice you identified in your potential research topic presentation through a literature review and by completing an annotated bibliography.

Through research, you build on the work of others and contribute new perspectives and understandings about the topic. Problems of practice are not just your own—they are phenomena with common elements that can present in multiple contexts. In other words, research is conducted not only about something you or your organization encounters, but also something that others have identified. Learning what is already known about a research topic starts with a literature review. 

Annotated bibliographies are used often by researchers when conducting literature reviews to organize and reflect upon existing published works. They not only capture a citation of a source, but they also include a brief summary and evaluation of the source. This can be helpful for synthesizing multiple data sources, such as in a doctoral paper or independent research project.

Revise

This assignment will be a continuation of the learning plan you started in your Week 1 assignment. Review the feedback you received on your Learning Plan: Integrating Feedback assignment in Week 2. 

• Revise your Learning Plan: Integrating Feedback paper based on the feedback, using track changes in Word. For help, refer to the Writing Center’s Using Track ChangesLinks to an external site. resource. 
• Include your revised draft as Appendix B to this week’s written assignment.

Create

In your paper,

• Create an annotated bibliography comprising references and summaries of sources related to describing the prevalence of the problem of practice you identified in your Post Workshop: Potential Research Topic Presentation assignment in Week 3. 

The Learning Plan: Annotated Bibliography assignment

• must include at least 10 sources with properly formatted references (refer to the APA: Formatting Your References ListLinks to an external site. resource for guidance), including
  • a minimum of four scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles published in the last five years
  • a minimum of two dissertations, applied doctoral projects, or master’s theses from the ProQuest Dissertations and ThesesLinks to an external site. database
  • a minimum of one professional publication, conference presentation, report, or white paper
  • a maximum of two popular press sources.
• must include a separate title page with the following in title case:
  • title of paper in bold font (Doctoral Learning Plan in this case)
    • Space should appear between the title and the rest of the information on the title page.
  • student’s name
  • name of institution (The University of Arizona Global Campus)
  • course name and number
  • instructor’s name
  • due date
• must include two appendices:
  • Appendix A should be a revised version of your Statement of Purpose paper.
  • Appendix B should be a revised version of your Integrating Feedback paper.
