1. Project Title

Example: "A Humane Approach to Modern Prison Design"

2. Purpose / Objective

  • What are you trying to achieve with this prison design?
  • Are you focusing on punishment, rehabilitation, safety, or cost-efficiency?

3. Design Philosophy / Concept

  • What inspired your design?
  • Do you want open spaces? Natural light? Or a more traditional setup?
  • Will it be minimum, medium, or maximum security?

4. Layout & Architecture

  • Include a floor plan or 3D sketch.
  • Show different areas: cells, cafeteria, exercise yards, medical wing, visitation room, solitary confinement (if any), etc.
  • Mention materials (concrete, glass, steel), sustainability features, etc.

5. Capacity & Staffing

  • How many inmates can it hold?
  • How many staff are needed (guards, medical, counselors)?

6. Programs & Facilities

  • Will your prison include education, therapy, skill-building workshops?
  • Religious spaces, libraries, gyms?

7. Security Features

  • Cameras, secure entrances, control rooms, fencing, etc.
  • How do you balance security and humane treatment?

8. Ethical & Social Considerations

  • How does your design address issues like overcrowding, mental health, and reintegration?
  • Are there gender-specific areas or policies?

You need to turn in the answers to these questions on a document, and you must attach a sketch/drawing/ etc as well. 

Requirements:

Outside of the required sketch/drawings/ 2D or 3D Imaging, you will need to answer the questions in APA format.
