In each of our weekly forums, we will use the "three R approach."  Please respond to each of these questions regarding the week's assigned readings, both with the assigned text and other provided articles.

Ideally, your post should be about three paragraphs long and be completed by Wednesday evening.

1. Resonate: What did you agree with? What spoke to you?

2. Resist: What did you disagree with? What did you struggle with?

3. Relevant: What did you take away from you this week? How can this material be applied to your life and others?

Learning Activity 1: Climate Change Myths

There is a lot of misinformation and confusion out there when it comes to climate change in relation to its impacts and causes. We are going to explore some of the main myths out there using this site: https://skepticalscience.com/. This is a great resource for exploring climate change and for helping a person understand what is going on.

For this assignment, you will see 10 climate change myths on the left-hand side of the home page. You will choose two that you have heard and/or are most interested in. You should click on their link and read through the information provided.

You should then summarize what the myth is and why it is a myth. You should include what was most surprising to you and what was most compelling. Each myth’s summary should be one paragraph in length.

Climate Change Witness 1

Each week, we will explore one person who is on the front lines of climate change. We will hear their stories and understand their perspectives. You will then write a reflection paper of 1 page in response to this witness’s testimony.

Our first climate change witness is Dr. Katharine Hayhoe. Dr. Hayhoe is a climate scientist who works for the Nature Conservancy and is an Evangelical Christian. Her husband is a pastor, and she has written several books about faith and climate change. She travels around the world speaking about faith and climate change and is a great resource for understanding how climate change connects to our faith. You will go to this website: Tearfund: Dr. Katharine Hayhoe.

Choose two videos to watch that are interesting to you. Please summarize your thoughts in reaction to the content of the videos. Include things such as: What stood out to you? What did you learn? What are your initial reactions to what was said?
