Assignment 2 - Higher education

For paper #2 students have the option of choosing ONE of the following assignments:     

• Write a  (3-5 double spaced pages) research paper comparing and contrasting two different state’s higher education governance structure, and organizational structure. This paper should provide background information about how each state finances higher education, how education outcomes are assessed in each state, and provide information about higher education goals and initiatives in each state. Demographic information for each state should play a major role in the student’s discussion. Helpful information would include but is not limited to: numbers of students enrolled in  higher education programs, median age of college students, online/traditional enrollment statistics, average amount of financial assistance students receive, percentages of pupulace who have earned degrees, etc for each state. The 2 States will be selected by individual students.
• Write a researched paper (3-5 double spaced pages) on the traits, behaviors, skills and competencies needed to be a University/College President. Based upon these desired traits, describe the ideal president to lead the school you wrote about in your first essay.
