1. In application to marginalized populations, existing social norms can present roadblocks to navigating the stages. For example, there is increasing acceptance of transgender youth. How do you envision Erickson's perspective of Stage 5's identity vs. role confusion and the influence of social norms in establishing gender roles? How would these questioning youth be assessed within Erickson's model?
