Researched grant proposal
Researched Grant Proposal
It's time to put everything you've learned together for your final essay, a researched grant proposal.
This will be a grant proposal-style research paper, written to persuade an investment banker or wealthy donor to contribute money to a non-profit/NGO that is working on a solution for an identified need/problem out there in the world today.
The paper can be in MLA or Chicago format (whichever you prefer from the first two papers) and contain 5 paragraphs with about 250+ words per paragraph (1250 minimum). AT LEAST one expert/outside source should be quoted ALONG WITH some paraphrased research material (cited in-text) in paragraphs 1-4. That means there should be AT LEAST two citations per paragraph.
TITLE PAGE: Create a title page as the first page.
INTRODUCTION (this is your facts section)
Paragraph 1 - introduce the need or problem. This is factual/expository/background information -- so remember your 5W's. At the end of this paragraph, state your claim (something like - It's important to raise money for XX cause to help YY - or ensure ZZ doesn't happen). This is your thesis statement.
THE BENEFITS OF CONTRIBUTING (this is your argument section)
Paragraph 2 - give us one reason WHY money donated toward this cause is necessary/beneficial. Begin with a topic sentence, explain it and support it with experts and research material.
Paragraph 3 - give us a 2nd reason WHY (topic sentence). Explain and support.
NOTE: By the end of paragraph 3, we should have seen a bit of ethos, pathos, and logos somewhere in your argument. Logical fallacies should be avoided at all costs.
RECOMMENDATION (this is more factual)
Paragraph 4 - tell us about your proposed solution and one non-profit/NGO/charity organization that you've decided can help solve this problem. Describe the solution. Then tell us why they are a good group to help with this need. Are they well-run? Cost-effective? Have past results? Prove this with experts and research (citations).
CONCLUSION (this is your "ask")
Paragraph 5 - restate the problem and solution and reasons concisely. Remind us which organization you think is the best one to donate to and why. End by telling us how much money you would like donated - and how you would spend it. Include the URL website of that organization at the end in case your investor wants to donate immediately.
