Overview:

This assignment calls for you to research, contemplate and articulate your responses to the following:

Part 1: Due May 19th by 11:59pm

a) Response to a Master Artwork and b) Project Description

a) Response to a Master Artwork (up to one page)

Select any artist from those shown in the Intaglio Powerpoint (or any other of your choice) and a particular work by that artist. Make sure the work you choose is an Intaglio Print (and not a painting or drawing). Research the genre, and comment on the ideas influencing his/her work. IN YOUR OWN WORDS, comment on what you see. Refer to the ELEMENTS of ART (i.e. line, shape, colour, texture, space, value) and how they are used. Describe how the artwork makes you feel. Include in your write-up:

- Name and dates of artist and artwork(s);

- Picture of relevant image(s);

- What do you see / feel;

- What is compelling/of interest about this particular artist/artwork;

- What, if anything, you have learned from looking at this imagery or this artist’s technique.

b) Your ideas for Project 1 (approx. two paragraphs)

-What does the theme mean to you?

-Where did your idea come from and how did you develop it? How did it change?

=Evaluation (10%) is based on the student’s:

• Demonstrated depth of understanding of course content;

• Demonstrated ability to provide an articulate account of your personal ideas and process;

• Demonstrated ability to personally interpret and analyze an art work (provide your own opinion based on what you see and feel);

• Articulation of ideas and personal thoughts through clear and fluid writing.
