0 Points The student written response is not grounded in empirical data, and/or the reading material that support the student's written response.
5 Points The student written response is grounded in empirical data, and/or reading material that support the student's written response, but the student did not cite source or reading material.
10 Points The student written response is grounded in empirical data, and/or reading material that support the student's written response.
Comprehension Demonstrated /Knowledge of Topic
0 Points The student did not demonstrate knowledge and insight regarding the assignment. She/he did not respond to the /question and did not submit 3 well developed paragraphs. The paragraphs did not contain fully developed ideas. The response is too short or not sufficiently connected to the topic of the assignment/question.
5 Points The student demonstrated some knowledge and insight regarding the assignment /question but responded with less than 3 paragraph that were not robust or well developed. The paragraphs did not contain fully developed ideas. The response is not well connected to the topic of the assignment/question.
10 Points The student demonstrated knowledge and insight regarding the assignment /question by responding with 3 robust well developed paragraphs. The paragraphs contained fully developed ideas. The response is connected to the topic of the assignment/question.
Organization and Mechanics, Grammar, and Spelling:
0 Points The assignment does not have an introduction, body and conclusion. The assignment does not focus on the topic/question posted and has organization, mechanical and spelling errors.
2 Points The assignment does not have an introduction, body and conclusion. The assignment needs to be more focused on the topic/question posted and some spelling and/or grammatical and mechanical errors
5 Points The assignment has an introduction, body and conclusion. The assignment remains focused on the topic/question posted and has few spelling and grammatical errors
