Writing Assignment 1: Rhetorical Analysis

Details:

Choose a speech from the Speeches for Rhetorical Analysis Essay module on Canvas (located in Canvas module titled “Speeches for Rhetorical Analysis Essay” underneath the Week Three module). You will write a rhetorical analysis of the presidential speech. This essay will focus on being a textual analysis, although some context can be included (for instance, President Bush’s speech is in direct reaction to the attacks on America on September 11th and President Reagan’s speech is in regard to the wall dividing the Soviet-controlled section of Berlin from the rest of Berlin. I don’t want you to go and do a lot of research on the context. Focus on using the text of the speech as your source.) NO other speeches but those included in the Module are to be used for this essay.

Length:

Paper should be 3 - 5 pages in length (typed, double-spaced. See MLA format section below).

Due Date:

Final Draft due Monday, September 19 by 11:59pm (upload to essay submission box in Canvas weekly module)
