Research Paper
It takes time.
Breaking down the process into several steps is a wise decision.
Research Paper
Choose a specific global issue, related to your major,
that could be explained through a compare and contrast essay.
Research Paper
Before beginning the research, students should create an initial KEY WORD list which has synonyms, broad topic, and sub topic terms for their subject. This list should be updated during the research to add helpful terms encountered in indexes, databases, etc.
Research Paper
The research topic should not be too broad (like food). Looking at subject headings in encyclopedia articles, periodical guides, and subject indexes will give early guidance for narrowing focus
(like ethnic food).
Students should consult with their instructors to be sure the topic is neither too broad (food) or too narrow (Thai food in Melbourne).
Research Paper
Choose a topic.
Create a working bibliography.
Summarizes material from a variety of sources.
Evaluates material by means of thesis statement.

Fine tune your final manuscript.
Bibliography
Finding materials and making a preliminary resource list creates a working bibliography which provides the starting points for research.
Resources for a working bibliography include the classroom, the library, and the internet.
Research Paper
While not generally considered appropriate resources for evaluative research papers, all research should begin with general reference materials. Reports and factual research papers may use subject area reference books or encyclopedias as academic references. Never use Wikipedia as an academic source.
Research Paper
Periodicals are publications which appear regularly: journals, magazines, newspapers, almanacs.
