Response to the Story of the Great Wall of China
A great post. The Great Wall of China came to be as a result of different walls built by different empires existent in the history of China. The walls had the main purpose of keeping away enemies from different Chinese states because plots had been made frequently to try to bring down the empire of China. Wars were constantly happening during the period and more protection was required especially of the region. These walls protected the Eurasian Steppe from attacks in order to strengthen the empire of China. These walls were later on joined together to form The Great Wall of China which ran from the east to west borders of China and neighboring regions.
Through improvements such as water towers and paths created along the wall, the Chinese empire was able to clearly monitor the movement of people to and from the empire. Access control was done by soldiers assigned to different locations of the wall to ensure that no spies or armies from different parts of the world would invade China without their knowledge. Also, the wall generated a source of income as taxes were imposed on the goods making the trade in and out of the empire. This boosted China’s economy immensely as people came from far lands to trade in the economic center. The Great Wall became an essential part of the transport system as the path created a way for the transportation of valuable products safely.
The wall measured an approximate 8850km from the region of Dandong on the east to the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. It had taken a lot of years to build but it offered a lot of protection to the Chinese empire especially from smaller armies that had threatened to attack it in previous occasions. In current times, people from all over the world visit the site as one of the greatest archeological sites in human history. It might have taken a lot of time to build but it definitely was worth it.
The connection of the various walls into one major wall was the effort of King Zeng of China. the king was dedicated to controlling all of China through a centralized rule which he himself would control. He had noted that there had been the emergence of powerful men around the region who would become a threat to him in the future, therefore, he ordered the joining of the walls. Some walls were broken down in order to create one which was done from rabels and stones from the mountains. He exposed his workers to inhumane conditions and most of them died during the construction of the wall. This then ensured that King Zeng became the ultimate ruler all over China. However, there were still invasions, especially from the Mongolian tribe.
The era of Ming had seen a lot of attacks from the Mongolian tribe. They were able to penetrate the walls from time to time to cause havoc on the Chinese empire. Ming took it upon himself to repair the walls with stronger material like stones and bricks rather than just soil clumped together. He also created a wall for his agricultural produce which had the purpose of keeping the Mongolians away from the Chinese food. The Mongolians were famously known for their brutality and never-ending resilience. By the time the Mongolians were annexed in as part of the Chinese empire, the wall had been constructed and done.
The Great Wall of China took so many years to build. Its main purpose was simply to ensure that the enemies of China would not be able to penetrate the region. However, the more it developed the more functions it was handed. It acted as a safe transportation route whenever China or other nations needed a safe passage. It also developed the region economically as safety boosted trade which in turn boosted the nation. The kings who built it did a wonderful job but used forced labor which cost a lot of people their lives. A very informative post.
The Response of The Poem About The Great Wall of China
A great post. The description of the wall as a snake is fitting since the wall maneuvers as though it was a mighty snake. The wall does not move as it seen to be an ever sleeping giant snake. Its main purpose was for protection but it is now seen as an economic driver for the people and the nation of China. During the spring, the regions around the wall seem to come alive with plantation and vigor to make it a site to behold with one’s own eyes. The wall is so long that it disappears over the mountains and the hills.
Nothing, including rain, can be able to wash this big snake away from its sleeping place. People from far and wide visit The Great Wall of China to marvel at its never-ending glory and splendour. The site that was once a security site has now become a source of revenue for the Chinese people. When the sun shines upon it, it reflects more beauty to its viewers. The poet cannot forget of its beauty even when far away from the wall. The wall has not turned into an asset for its people.
POEMS
The Great Wall of China
Who can fathom, at the majesty of age?
Only you were able to conquer, while others failed
You came number one, leading the greatest of all
O! Great One!
Your protection spread over, even into the mountains
You protected, in silence and resilience
And your resilience you guard, something we like
O! Great One!
Centuries pass yet you maintain your youth
You become an icon, a beauty with no limits
O! Great Wall of China
Your purpose and taste increases with time, just like wine
And you are all tall, towering above every head
And yes, every head of every man you go above
O! Great Wall of China
Your goodness we fathom, your greatness we adore
For your goodness we watch you, yes every one watches
Everyone watches your strength and might the watch too
O! Your earthquackness!
For you are full of might, full of strength
Full of authority, and full of power
Yes its clear, crystal clear
O! Great wall of China.
Your purpose you fulfill, 100% performance
For you do not grumble, your duty you fulfill
Quietly without complaints, without grudging
O! Our great wall of China.
Sol you protect us, as your duty is
Enemies you do not spare, how we love this
And we will always appreciate, in our hearts forever
O! For our hearts are fulfilled
Sore on great wall, do not tire at any point
With your strength keep standing, do not give up
With you glamour stand, do not look sideways
O! The greatest of all walls.
And we will always be grateful, yes all the time
We will always give thanks, day in say out
And we will always, look at your glamour with reverence,
O! The greatest of all walls.
Love
Love is a beautiful thing, yes more than beautiful
T brings fragrance to the heart, a spark that is hard to blow off,
It makes the heart more beautiful and more handsome too,
Everyone needs love, big or small
Any kind of love is good, no love is bad
Romantic or agape, love is all good,
Its impacts are great, to the heart, mind and soul,
Everyone needs love, big or small
Romantic love is quite great, everyone needs it,
It comes some age, some age that everyone is in dire need
And if they lack it, yes this is for sure,
They will look, look for it seriously,
So let’s spread love, let’s impact people with love,
Let’ snot misuses love, let’s not to take advantage,
Advantage of other people, to misuses them because they love us,
It is bad, and bad to the core
For with this love, I will assure you,
Life is great, and life is sweet,
If this great love, love above all is groomed well
It yields great yields, yes it gives forth a hundred-fold.
So love actually, contains only good things,
it contains good will , and its fruits are all good,
That’s why people seek it, for it is borne of the heart
Everyone needs love, big or small
Poetry Response
These particular poems are all great poems. The first pome is well manufactured. It has mixed well all the elements of poems including imagery. You have not used only some elements of poetry but have exhausted all of them ,which is a great things. The poems about love are also great. I specifically like the way you first handled love in general then went on to handle romantic love. This is quite clearly handled. I would however suggest that you also handle love in other perspectives like the negative effects of romantic love, its limitations, among other angles. This would bring about great ideas.
