9-Conflict management principles for groups and teams

Conflicts are inevitable in a group working together. There will always be differences based on different opinions and cultural backgrounds. However, different principles can be used to solve conflicts. First, it is important to embrace conflict and accept that it exists among the group members. This will make it easier to talk about it since everyone will be aware of it. Secondly, the best method to solve a conflict is communication; therefore, each member should be given a chance to share his/her views concerning the conflict. It will also help to learn the source of the conflict. Thirdly, after each member has shared his ideas, it is good to agree where each member participates in bringing the solution (Kolb, 2013). Lastly, as a leader, it is important to provide guidance by setting the rules that will favor and protect every team member. For instance, if the conflict is based on culture, the leader can create programs that promote diversity in the workplace. This will help to prevent such conflicts from occurring again in the future.

10- Groups, Teams, and Creativity: The Creative Potential of Idea-generating Groups.

Working as a group has its advantages as people formulate and share ideas that are beneficial to the company and individually. There are several ways in which ideas can be formulated quickly and effectively within groups. However, it depends on the environment in which the ideas are formulated and shared in a group. The first method is brainstorming, where a group member speaks his mind, and then the other members come up with suggestions. Among the suggestions, the best is filtered and used to get the ideas. The second way is playing a role; for instance, you put yourself in another person's shoes. As you play a role, ideas can come in the best way to carry out a task. Lastly is reverse thinking; a member tries to think about the negative effects of not achieving the goal. For instance, a member may try to think about increasing his speed in typing by looking at how to decrease the speed. It will bring new ideas that might be beneficial (Paulus, 2009). However, the ideas depend on the environment a member is in; if the environment is safe, and without conflict, there is a likeliness to develop new ideas than an unconducive environment.

11-Ethics in Groups

Ethics are very important in a group; they help to determine what is morally wrong and wrong. In a group, ethics are very important when there is a need for change; group members with positive ethics will easily adopt changes that will positively impact their group. However, if the changes will not help the group, they will not accept change based on group ethics. Good ethics also encourage teamwork, which intern increases the productivity of a team. For instance, it is morally wrong to discriminate against a person based on gender, religion, or ethnicity. Therefore, a group that has strong ethics will avoid discrimination, and this will promote teamwork. Whenever there is teamwork, it avoids conflicts, saves time, and provides a conducive working environment, increasing productivity (Tenbrunsel & Wageman, 2006). Ethics also helps a group to grow, as each member is given a chance to face reality, either bad or good. This helps each member to grow and gain experience in his/her career and learn tactics of maneuvering, even in situations that might be hard.

12-Teams in organizations: Recent research on performance and effectiveness.

Teams in an organization can either be successful or fail. There are reasons that make them effective or less effective. A team that understands its purpose and goals is likely to be effective since each member is determined to achieve it. Moreover, a team that is creative and innovative will be effective. For instance, an innovative team will come up with ideas on how to improve their performance, thus making it effective. Besides, communication is very important in teamwork. A team with honesty, open and respectful communication is likely to be effective since every member gets the exact and correct information (Guzzo,1996). Also, with good communication, each member can openly share his/her ideas on how to improve their performance as decisions making is open to every member. Specialization is also another key factor that influences performance. Each member should be assigned a role that is comfortable with based on his/her skills. This will increase the effectiveness, thus increasing performance and effectiveness. A team with conflicts, and that lacks good communication will not be effective. Conflicts destroy relationships, which will definitely affect performance.
