A. Short film: Actor Seeking Role

Alex is trying to find an career as an actor. Alex job working as an actor pretending to have different diseases in medical school. He also had different diseases in medical school, he had an different disease every week. This made the medical students able to make a diagnosis on him and learn with the professor or Dr. Who is actor Dylan Baker. Dylan is also who gives the weekly sickness to Alex. I feel like Alex is depressed, and Dylan is more sarcastic and seem like he can be evil. This film has a realistic tone to it. You can feel Alex's frustration, the way he walks and desperation. He's trying to do an great job, but even his acting director tell's him that he doesn't have the talent. He continued to study his diseases every night. I enjoyed the film it was awesome, also made me believe that he would actually get sick from all those diseases he was acting. You can feel sad for Alex, Tyburski did an great job from the beginning to the end.

Assessment: It's based on people actually trying to better themselves, but can easily get discharged if not able to find the right oppurtunities.

Ex: When Alex recieves information that he didn't make the cut for the acting role, then he was also behind on his house note.

You must find your own passion and go for it, can't force anything and make it your way.

This film is convincing that there are some things in life we can't control. Shows good intentions towards goals, but no success.

B. Title: Lost World

Directed by: Kalyanee Mam

Lost World is an Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner short documentary feature film Directed by Kalyanee Mam made in Cambodia.

The documentary feature film is about the dredging of sands from underneath the water and mangrove forests of Cambodia which amounted to about 80 million tons from the time of 2007 until the documentary was made. The documentary shows how the rich and rapacious capitalist business men from Singapore are dredging sands and how it badly affecting Cambodia’s natural ecosystems. Crabs live within the sands of the mangrove forests which is the food for locals. The oceans and mangroves with its roots need sand. Snails are present up above and on the ground of the mangrove. It is mostly affecting the women. They used to fish even when they were residing in their houses because near their houses there were crabs and fishes.  Due to the sand removal from the river, fishes and crabs are no longer found in the water. As such, they had to leave their children and their home for work. It is very heart wrenching to see how the poor people are struggling to maintain their lives.

My judgement is that these are violations of human rights and it should be acknowledged and controlled by the proper authority to save our future generations and Cambodia’s natural beauty and property.

An example supporting me is that  this local young girl, named Phalla Vy is mourning “law has given us all kinds of freedoms. Here we only have the right to sit, shed tears and witness the destructions of our grandchildren's home, our village and our way of life.” She also thought on her own when she went to Singapore and saw people walking “I want to tell them this land is my land, this land is from my country but I can’t express this because I don’t speak their language and not know what to do so they will understand . I camly grief for the land don’t know what else I can do.”

I acknowledge a possible opposite view that the rich capitalist business men from Singapore don’t think they are hampering Cambodia’s ecosystem, rather they think are providing the necessary element to enrich their living hood and to make Singapore a tourist country. In conclusion, Cambodia is a country of beauty, valuable mangrove forests within which crabs, clams, and snails reside. For almost decades of years the people of singapore have been dredging the sand from underneath the ocean, the mangrove forests and all other places with sand . This way they make Cambodia’s ecosystem unstable and overall unfit for human life. It is completely a violation of the rights of others which should be acknowledged and made justice by the respective authorities of the world to save Cambodia’s property and natural beauty.
