Summary of the SWOTT Analysis

The mission of People First San Diego is centered on providing hope to marginalized community members through housing, employment, and health-related initiatives that help in building resilience, health, and economic stability. The vision of collaboration for creating a greater network of wellness is very suitable in San Diego as there are over 182,000 people living below poverty line, and 5,000 homeless individuals.

Strengths of the organization include the provision of comprehensive services, commitment to DEI values, and strong local partnerships that help provide tangible solutions like housing for two years and free or affordable medical care. These strengths are balanced against limited capacity in the form of fewer housing places, limited clinic availability hours, and the financial constraints associated with mid-sized nonprofits.

Externally, there is scope for developing collaborations, engaging more volunteers and varied sources of funding, and expanding employment services in response to persistent demand. External threats may be related to competing for finite resources and any changes in the broader environment that can influence both the clientele as well as the continued existence of the organization.

The current SWOT analysis reveals a mission-based organization that has strengths in being people-centered and having community connections. Expansion of capacity, resource diversity, and partnering are strategies that would allow People First San Diego to capitalize on its opportunities and mitigate any external threats.
