EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

1. High-quality early childhood care and education are related to many positive outcomes for children. Review pages 169-174 in the course text. Identify three ways in which organizations such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) work to impact quality child care and education positively. Describe one way that individual early childhood professionals can also work to change the lives of young children and their families positively. National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has come up with some of the standards which promote child quality care and education. The (NAEYC) has ten rules which are as follows: promotion of positive relationships between children and adults, implementation of the right curriculum which fosters every child development dimensions such as the cognitive, language, emotional, social and the physical development. Employing the use of culturally, developmentally, and linguistically effective, and appropriate teaching techniques; Provisions of child development assessment program that is continuous.

Promotion, of health and nutrition among the staffs and children employment and supporting the quality teaching staffs (Lee et al., 2015). Establishing and maintaining the relations with the families and community and making the good use of the community resources. Provision of the physical environment, which is healthy and safe; the organization also implements the program which is oriented towards quality service provision. The National Association of Family Child Care also known as NAFCC started the program for accrediting the voluntary family child care homes. The program includes the self-evaluation together with the external aspects of validating the operation of the program, such as safety, health, nutrition, interactions, professional responsibility and offering the caregiver training concerning the cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR (Banks, 2015).

2. Schools have a definite role the socialization process. Explain the difference between the concepts of cultural assimilation and cultural pluralism. Why is the concept of bilingual/multicultural education an example of cultural pluralism?

Cultural assimilation is the process whereby the minority group in the society tends to take the traits exhibited by the majority of the community. While the cultural pluralism is the event whereby there are mutual understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures that are present in the society (Banks, 2015). The society might be having diverse languages, lifestyles, and religious beliefs. The multilingual and bilingual education concept is cultural pluralism example, since, there is a sense of understanding and appreciation of the language which does not change even though they are teaching different languages still there is no change of language. The education brings diverse people having a different faith, ideologies, ethnic and political view but they are connected through the syllabus (Lee et al., 2015).

3. Identify and explain key responsibilities of early childhood classroom teachers about children who have disabilities, the IEP process, and their work in inclusive settings. Explain the role of the early childhood classroom teacher in each of these areas, identifying and explaining examples of the key responsibilities of early childhood educators. The early childhood educator has the role of supporting the children that have the disability, by coming up with activities that the child might find unusual for them to participate, the teacher should make sure that the disability students are well socialized and develop in all dimensions like the other children. The teacher should interact with child properly enabling the child to overcome the issue of stigma. The teacher has the role of promoting inclusion in the classroom (Banks, 2015).
