Journal Entry#3
Concept map & Journal entry
1. Create a concept map of validity using what you have learned from the course
readings (Chapter attached). Below is a general description and example of a
concept map. Please keep in mind that there is no “right” or “wrong” way to create
your map. The purpose behind constructing the map is to help you conceptualize
and organize your understanding of validity.
Concept map description: Concept maps are graphical tools for organizing and
representing knowledge. They include concepts, usually enclosed in circles or
boxes of some type, and relationships between concepts indicated by a connecting
line linking two concepts. Words on the line referred to as linking words or linking
phrases, specify the relationship between the two concepts. Concept maps tend to
be read progressing from the top downward. Below is an example concept map
showing the key features of a concept map.

2. Journal Entry: Think of a fictitious new test which can be either a large-scale
assessment or a local classroom assessment. Briefly describe in your journal entry
what the test is designed to measure. Next, address how you would go about gathering
validity evidence for this test. Be sure to address the 5 sources of validity evidence
discussed in the McMillian text. I have also provided a summary of different ways to
gather validity evidence in the PDF document entitled “Sources of Validity Evidence Overview.final” (Attached) which you can use as a guide when discussing how you would go about gathering validity evidence.
Below are some examples of acceptable test descriptions from other students:
• "My fictitious test was developed to measure 2nd graders understanding of capitalization and punctuation within text."
• "I have designed a math test for third grade students to determine if students can identify the place value and value of each digit for six digit numerals (Virginia SOL 3.1(a))."
NOTE: The concept map should be in one page AND The journal should be a page and a half.
Due in 24 hours.
