According to the textbook, encourage the heart is about recognizing contributions by showing appreciation for individual excellence and celebrating the values and victories by creating a spirit of community. A good leader knows how to appreciate their team members and recognize well their efforts and contributions to the organization.
During this process, team members and the leader remind themselves that their goals are going in the right direction, they check if their expectations can meet the goals, and they set up the standard based on their expectations.
If standards are too low, our expectations go also low, and in turn our goals are not desirable at the end. So, we should keep in mind that we set up the higher standard in the first place to get a better outcome.
